Course Reflective Narratives
During the fall of 2022, I had to take the course WLC 300. WLC Major Proseminar is a course designed for students in the Spanish and Japanese majors. In this class, I discovered a lot of useful things that I did not have ideas of their existence. For example, I did not know that they have an assigned person to help us with our personal and professional resume, this is such a great thing because I had always felt that my resume was all over the place. Once I made my appointment with Mr. Levy, I felt a lot more confident. Science gave excellent feedback on how to have a well-structured resume, what are some important things that must be included in the resume, and most importantly have important points in my running resume. In addition, we had some guest speakers that shared their experiences at CSUMB as well as advising us to take advantage of every single program and opportunity offered to us at CSUMB. On the other hand, they also advised us to start looking for a place where we would want to work because time flies and positions start to fill up quickly. The activities we did though the course really helped me to grow and achieve my personal and professional goals in the near future. An activity I really enjoyed was when in a group we did a mini investigation to find out what are the best well-paid job positions and also look at what options we have as Spanish and Japanese majors. Lastly, WLC class has been a helpful class. It has taught me important things I will need for my future classes to graduate. Something that I really felt useful was the presentation from all the speakers that took the time to go to our class and give us essential information for our future classes. One of the works that personally I thought was convenient to do is the e-portfolio because it is one of the big projects that we have to do for our last semester at CSUMB. Honorable, in my opinion, I am very thankful for all the professors that take the time to be there for us when needing help on how to write a professional resume. It is surprising how I thought my resume was “professional” looking but in real life, it was not. Having the chance to make an appointment with Shaun Levy was a huge help because he guides us through a way to have a professional resume that will help us get our desired job.
